Overview:
This program blends e-learning with hands-on, controlledenvironment training to prepare candidates for their first Competent Person approval for shipboard lifting appliances in line with MSC.532(107) and MSC.1/Circ.1663. All guidance, documentation and access to go.cralog.com* are supplied by CRALOG A/S.
Units:
- Plan and witness annual thorough examinations and five-year load tests per MSC.1/Circ.1663 Table 1.
- Compile statutory reports and on-board registers in go.cralog.com that replicate MSC.1/Circ.1663 Appendices 1–2 and ILO Forms 1–4, ensuring secure data retention, traceability and SOLAS compliance.
- Perform visual, functional and rocking-test examinations on shipboard cranes, inspect winches and hydraulic safety circuits.
- Interpret manufacturer maintenance manuals and distinguish daily/weekly responsible person checks from annual Competent Person examinations.
- Map differing flag-state definitions of a Competent Person and inspection intervals.
- Generate audit-ready evidence for Port State Control, Recognized Organizations and flag-state inspectors.
- Apply the IMO framework for Competent Person approval (MSC.532(107) & MSC.1/Circ.1663) while remaining fully compliant with ILO 152.

20h self-paced E-learning + 1-day on-site workshop.

Surveyors, technicians, superintendents and Inspectors.
Pre-requisites:
Surveyors, technicians, superintendents or inspectors with general mechanical engineering experience who are seeking their first competent person approval for shipboard lifting appliances.

- 1-day hands on workshop testing and verifying the skills gained in CRALOG’s E-learning.
Certificate:
Competent Person valid 3 years.
