Overview:
This four-day program consists of three modules and delivers the initial training and assessment required for prospective service technicians under ISO 23678 Part 2. All guidance and documentation—delivered via go.cralog.com*—are supplied by CRALOG A/S.

Target group:
Technicians who seek Level 1 or Level 2 ISO 23678 certificates.
Pre-requisites:
To hold or be working towards a nationally recognized qualification in engineering or mechanics, but not unduly excluding similar qualifications.
Aim:
The goal of the initial service technician training is to qualify technicians for either Level 1 training, a Level 2 assessment, or to enable them to act as assistants in the software, where they can properly document their field experience.
Objectives:
The programme ensures that candidates can:
- Familiarize themselves with key terminology and equipment.
- Describe the functions and roles of maritime and offshore organizations in relation to manufacturer/ASP operations.
- Identify the types, components, design and construction requirements of lifeboats (including free-fall), rescue boats and fast rescue boats, plus their on-load release gear and launching appliances.
- Explain the principal causes of lifeboat and rescue-boat accidents.
- State the roles and responsibilities of a manufacturer/ASP service technician.
- Locate and apply relevant legislation, industry guidelines, rules, regulations and conventions.
- Outline the procedures for maintenance, thorough examination, operational testing, repair and overhaul of the equipment listed above.
- Compile the required reports and records.
- Demonstrate safe working practices in a simulated work environment.
Certificate:
Initial Service Technician Certificate – valid 3 years.
