LEVEL 1 TECHNICIAN TRAINING – ISO 23678 PART 3, theoretical part
Overview:
This e learning programme (theory fulfils the requirements of MSC 402(96) § 8.2.2.

Duration: - 32 h e-learning
Target group: - Technicians pursuing Level 1 or Level 2 ISO 23678 certification.
Pre-requisites
To hold or be working towards a nationally recognized qualification in engineering or mechanics, but not unduly excluding similar qualifications; and
To hold a valid initial service technician certificate.
Aim:
This programme is designed for individuals who have completed the initial service technician training and need to gain the technical theoretical and practical knowledge to enable them to carry out maintenance thorough examination, operational testing, repair and overhaul of lifeboats (including free-fall lifeboats), rescue boats (including fast rescue boats), launching appliances and on-load release gear under supervision, as prescribed in ISO 23678-3.
##Objectives:
The key objectives of the training programme are to ensure candidates:
Interpret manufacturer technical documentation and apply it in practice
Identify, interpret and apply relevant legislation, industry guidelines, rules, regulations and conventions.
Demonstrate the underpinning knowledge and hands-on skills to maintain, examine, test, repair and overhaul the equipment listed above.
Compile accurate reports and associated documentation.
Operate with proven safety and awareness in a realistic work environment.
Certificate:**
None, the candidate must proceed the hands on to gain a Level 1 Service Technician Certificate.
