Overview;

This two-week programme (theory + practical controlled-environment training and assessment) fulfils the requirements of MSC 402(96) § 8.2.2. All guidance and documentation—delivered via the go.cralog.com software**—are supplied by CRALOG A/S.

Duration: – 2 weeks (32 h e-learning + 12 days practical training at CRALOG Academy)

Target group – Technicians pursuing Level 1 or Level 2 ISO 23678 certification.

Modules (ISO 23678-3, Stage 1)

  1. Work, health & safety issues while conducting activities on board
  2. Survivalcraft
  3. Release gear
  4. Davits
  5. Winches

Candidate pre-requisites

  • Hold or be working towards a nationally recognized qualification in engineering or mechanics, but not unduly excluding similar qualifications; and
  • Hold a valid initial service technician certificate.

Aim
Equip technicians who have completed initial training with technical theory and practical skills to carry out maintenance, thorough examination, operational testing, repair and overhaul of lifeboats (including free-fall), rescue boats (including fast rescue boats), launching appliances and on-load release gear under supervision, as prescribed in ISO 23678-3

Objectives — On completion, candidates can:
a) Interpret manufacturer technical documentation and apply it in practice.
b) Identify, interpret and apply relevant legislation, industry guidelines, rules, regulations and conventions.
c) Demonstrate the underpinning knowledge and hands-on skills to maintain, examine, test, repair and overhaul the equipment listed above.
d) Compile accurate reports and associated documentation.
e) Operate with proven safety and awareness in a realistic work environment.
