Overview;
This four-day program delivers the initial training and assessment required for prospective service technicians under ISO 23678 Part 2. All guidance and documentation—delivered via the go.cralog.com software—are supplied by CRALOG A/S

Duration: – 4 days (self-paced e-learning)

Target group – Technicians who seek Level 1 or Level 2 ISO 23678 certificates.

Candidate prerequisites for Initial Service Technician training

To hold or be working towards a nationally recognized qualification in engineering or mechanics, but not unduly excluding similar qualifications.

Objectives:

The programme ensures that candidates can:

  • Familiarize themselves with key terminology and equipment.
  • Describe the functions and roles of maritime and offshore organizations in relation to manufacturer/ASP operations.
  • Identify the types, components, design and construction requirements of lifeboats (including free-fall), rescue boats and fast rescue boats, plus their on-load release gear and launching appliances.
  • Explain the principal causes of lifeboat and rescue-boat accidents.
  • State the roles and responsibilities of a manufacturer/ASP service technician.
  • Locate and apply relevant legislation, industry guidelines, rules, regulations and conventions.
  • Outline the procedures for maintenance, thorough examination, operational testing, repair and overhaul of the equipment listed above.
  • Compile the required reports and records.
  • Demonstrate safe working practices in a simulated work environment.

 

Certificate
Initial Service Technician Certificate – valid 3 years.
